The purpose of the Portrait Society of America is to
foster and enhance an understanding of
the practice, techniques and applications of
traditional fine art portraiture and figurative works.
The Portrait Society of America is a non-profit, charitable organization registered in the state of Florida.
PORTRAIT SOCIETY OF AMERICA MEMBERS CODE OF ETHICS
ARTISTIC PURITY - We will be dedicated to the pursuit of excellence of aesthetics and craftsmanship in our work. Eschewing any incorporation within the final product of mechanical or chemical-photo sensitized process or surmoulage (life casting). We will practice and promote the traditional creative process of fine art portraiture.
PRESENTATION - We will endeavor to enhance and ennoble the discipline of the fine art of portraiture by maintaining a dignity of manner in our behavior, the presentation of our work and in all other forms of public contact.
RESPECT AND ENCOURAGEMENT - We will exhibit respect for our fellow artists and their work, avoiding unjust criticisms, actions or comments designed to harm their artistic standing or work. We will willingly give of our knowledge and provide encouragement to artists individually and collectively so that the quality of fine art portraiture may continually be raised.
HONESTY - We will observe the highest standards of honesty in all our transactions, avoiding the use of false claims, confusing or inaccurate descriptions of the creative activity or product or misrepresentations as to the proper authorship(s) of any work.
